inDesign also has much better search / replace functionality, especially the ability to remove double-spaces. Those are replicatable and better in Publisher, but slower when you just need a quick effect.ĮDIT: OK. inDesign also has some nice pre-made effects like "Basic Feather" which are quick to apply. Oh and inDesign supports scripts which support exporting stories with rich text, which is something I need sometimes. Right now, that, and the just mentioned UI comparison, are the only things inDesign has better than Publisher. InDesign has books, which is a big help when dealing with large projects. You can set up various panels of studios and double-click them to expand / minimize but it's not as good. The context sensitive bar is not as good nor customizable as in Adobe products. Adobe things can pop out of the side and scoot back when I don't need it. I find the interface of Affinity ON LAPTOP screens is not as good as Adobes. At first you sit there and think "Wow Affinity is not up to par", but about 90% is about the muscle memory working against you. I do a lot more page layout for graphics intensive RPG books than I use photoshop, and I have not used Publisher for a published product yet.įirst of all, if you learn a lot of your skills on Adobe, you develop a kind of muscle memory which makes switching very difficult.
