Presents or publishes this research in scholarly journals and/or professional meetings or symposia.Conducts research into materials, history of fabrication, artists’ methods, and scientific data on the properties of materials.Assists conservation staff with the routine maintenance of the laboratory and the ordering of equipment and supplies.Acts as a courier for traveling exhibitions and loans.Advises on appropriate environmental conditions for the safe display and storage of works of art.Performs research and interacts with curators and other professionals to understand the significance of artwork and the artist’s intentions.Provides technical information for labels, publication, and authentication as needed.Collaborates with curatorial and conservation on the design and fabrication of mounts for textile installation in the gallery.Undertakes the conservation of textiles and costumes.Under supervision, conducts skilled treatment of a wide range of textiles and costumes.Prepares treatment proposals and reports in order to document all conservation work.Prepares and reviews condition reports for works of art on loan and new acquisitions.The Assistant Conservator assists with departmental responsibilities related to the preservation and conservation of textiles and costumes for The Los Angeles County Museum of Art which hosts numerous exhibitions, installations, and loans per year from its encyclopedic collection.
